Hello gang,

this is a new concept I wanted to try on my blog called “10 QUESTIONS TO…”. Basically I’m just going to ask different people the same 10 questions and see what their answers are.

I tried to choose questions that show you a lot about the person’s music taste and I think it worked out pretty well.

The first person to do this is my friend Olivia. I’ve been talking to her for probably over 2 years now (that’s quite some time omg) and the topic we talk about the most is music. She has an incredible taste in music and one day I’ll be able to look through her records and I will cry because her collection is flawless.

  1. What type of music do you listen to the most?

Whatever I’m listening to is generally a reflection of my current mood. Over the years I’ve accumulated a huge library of music and quite honestly, it’s difficult to say that there’s a genre I listen to most. Lately I’ve been into what I refer to as “sleepy time” music. It’s basically a collection of music that is sonically appealing to fall asleep to. There are a few bands that really embrace that sound; Still Parade, Bear’s Den and Folly and The Hunter are what I’d reach for on a relaxing winter evening.

  1. Top 10 favorite albums

Potentially the most challenging question I could be asked. In no particular order:

  1. The 1975- The 1975
  2. Take Off Your Pants and Jacket- Blink 182
  3. X- Ed Sheeran
  4. Graduation- Kanye West
  5. Sigh No More- Mumford and Sons
  6. A Rush of Blood To the Head- Coldplay
  7. Bouquet- The Chainsmokers
  8. Random Access Memories- Daft Punk
  9. Songs About Jane- Maroon 5
  10. Badlands- Halsey
  1. Top 10 favorite songs

Correction; this is the most challenging question. In no particular order (again):

This is all a list that is ever changing.

  1. Green Eyes- Coldplay
  2. Robbers- The 1975
  3. I Miss You- Blink 182
  4. Secrets- Tiesto
  5. Fast Car- Tracy Chapman
  6. Brightside- The Killers
  7. Lost Boy- 5 Seconds of Summer
  8. Starlight- Muse
  9. Begin Again- Taylor Swift
  10. Sunset Lover- Petit Biscuit
  1. Best soundtracks

This is slightly embarrassing, but the first Twilight film had a very impressive soundtrack. It’s one of the few that have stuck out to me in recent years. The music was very suiting and it was a good way to introduce those artists to the viewing age of that series. Something more epic would be the soundtrack for the last Harry Potter. I would be so ridiculous as to call it magical. Ha.

  1. If you could only listen to three albums for the rest of your life, which ones would you choose and why?

Yikes. That’s a commitment. It only seems fair that I pull from my original top 10 list.

  1. The 1975- The 1975

This album means a lot to me. I was a big fan of this band when I was 17 (definitely have the band logo tattooed on me to prove it). It does contain quite a few mature themes but I seemed to grasp it and I was able to learn a lot about myself through this album and through this group of musicians. Their philosophical views are part of me now and I wouldn’t have been able to adopt those values without this album. This was one of those albums that changed my life.

  1. A Rush of Blood To the Head- Coldplay

I was raised on Coldplay. I listened to them from an extremely young age. They are a timeless group in my opinion and their sound is ever-changing. While they’ve never released an album that I didn’t like; this one was my favourite. On a musical and lyrical level, I always found this one to be the most impressive.

  1. Graduation- Kanye West

I have no reasonable excuse for this one.

  1. Songs that always change your mood

This is always changing as I discover new music but I can give a top 5 mood lifting song list:

  1. Adventure of A Lifetime- Coldplay
  2. Say My Name- Odesza
  3. You- Galantis
  4. Cool (A-track Remix) – Alesso
  5. Feelings- Maroon 5
  1. How many CD’s and Vinyl do you own?

My CD count is probably impossible, I’ve been collecting for way too long. My vinyl count is just shy of 50 at the moment I believe. The new age vinyl that music is being printed on is not the same as the old stuff. It doesn’t always sound better, which is the point of vinyl. Know your source before you purchase!

  1. Favorite lyrics

Remembering all time favourite lyrics on the spot is tough but these are two current verses that I’m in love with.

“I know I’ve only felt religion when I’ve lied with you,

You said you’ll never be forgiven ‘til your boys are too,

And I’m still waking every morning but it’s not with you.”

-Colors, Halsey

“Oh say, can you see? This is not who I’m supposed to be,

Without you I’m nobody, killing time

I tried to deceive, tried to win you desperately,

Now I’m lost in the swirling sea of your sorry eyes”

-Catch Fire, 5 Seconds of Summer

  1. Songs you wish were about you

See You Soon- Coldplay

  1. Songs you want people to listen to

In addition to the ones I’ve already mentioned, these are some of my favourites right now that I’m super into:

On Melancholy Hill- Gorillaz

The Feeling- Justin Bieber ft. Halsey

Everglow- Coldplay

Tell Your Friends- The Weeknd

Furthest Thing- Drake

And massive thank you to my amazing friend for being the first to do this!
